I hope you got the memo in my previous posts about Bourjois Velvet liquid lipsticks - I'm a fan. So as an out and about self-confessed fan-girl, it was only time before Borujois and me we're reunited.
Well, what actually spurred me to buy a few more lip products from Bourjois came from finding out that 33 Brun croyable is a supposed dupe for 3ce Velvet lipstick in Taupe. Add in Feelunique having a mini sale and thus, this little haul was made.

Packaging
I won't bore you with the details. The Velvets are cute little squat rectangles and the Rouge Lacque(rs) are slightly thinner and taller. All lip products have the same doe foot applicator and the colour of the packaging denotes how (more or less) it will look on the lips/skin.
Swatches & Shade Description
02 Fambourjoise - a rosy berry-red shade.21 Saperliprunette - a true bright purple.
33 Brun'croyable - a dark brown with a red undertone.
06 Framboiselle - a medium toned cool red.
07 Purpledelique - a fuschia shade.
Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick
02 Frambourjoise: described as a rosy-berry shade well, I'd just call it a soft medium pink (?). This is how one coat looks - I thought it would be stronger on first swipe but, it's not and that's ok because it looks nice like this (and can be built up if you so desire).
21 Saperliprunette: yep this a bright purple and very nice indeed.
33 Brun' croyable: This is a supposed dupe for 3ce Taupe liquid lip tints. I don't have said lip tint to clarify this but, there are various links that do - like this. Brun'croyable is a plummy reddish brown that really is a unique shade and surprised me the first time I saw it in the tube, as it was much lighter than I expected. On lighter skin tones this shade looks like it comes across very deep and berry toned but, on darker skin (like mine) it's nowhere as deep or plummy and comes across exactly like described - a reddish brown. Despite it looking very different to what I admired on lighter skin tones, I still think it looks pretty dope and makes for a nice romantic shae when lightly applied or at full strength on dark skin.
I believe this line is now discontinued as I can't find any info on Bourjois website. What I could find on the internets shows that these are kinda meant to be pigmented glossy tints that last for 16hrs (rolls eyes - yeah sure ... haven't we all heard that line before). I did watch a few vids to see how the shades would look, rather than to find out if they were any good because most of the vids were sponsored by Bourjois or, sent products. Ya know how it goes. Anyway, I needed to pass shipping and the cheap price helped tip me gently over the edge of that threshold so I am grateful.
However, my first opinion is that they Framboiselle smells bad. Maybe its because its old but, I have a sneaky suspicion that its always smelt bad which explains why the line has been dropped. Oh, and when I say smell bad - I mean like chemical glue and fruit kinda bad. Yet, on the lips, the scent does lessen and you only get the full strength of all the notes when you're actually sniffing it so, don't do that and there's no need to worry (don't taste either - its bitter).
The shades are actually really pigmented and true to the descriptions. The texture is smooth almost gel-like but, thicker and glossier than what an average tint would do though, not the same consistency as a gloss. It's actually a great product that you can build up to stunning intensity.
06 Framboiselle: applies like a neon pinkish shade and almost darkens down to a vibrant red. I used one coat in the above pics. This shade does stain my lips but not too badly.
07 Purpledelique: more purple in my book than fuschia but nevermind. I used two coats to cover over the stain Famboiselle left behind. Hopefully, you can see that two goats don't look gooey or goopy and you could build and build with these. Apart from the scent, these products are really good and I can't help feeling like these were released at the wrong time (in the height of the matte lip trend). Plus, I think Westerners are not into tints like how the Easterners seem to be which is a shame because I'm a tint fan.
So am I still a fan? Yes.
#Fixing Stains Tip
I used Sinful Colours Caramel Melt (lol it's so old but, so good) |
Instead of trying to scrub my lips clean - I decided to apply a caramel/beige gloss to subdue the pinkish hue. Not only does this hide the stain but gives back extra protection and comfort to my lips from the swatching and the oily texture helps to eventually remove the stain. So when lip products give you stains just roll with it and get glossy.
Price - Rouge Velvet Lipsticks £8.99 each - Rouge Lacque £8.99 each
Feelunique was having 20% off - so I paid less depending on I guess the popularity of the shade (I'll try to find the details later). Anyway, it's worth searching the net or popping into Boots/Superdrug as Bourjois is usually included in "3 for 2" makeup offers and deals. Rouge Lacque can still be found in (I think some) stores and online so you may be able to try out the product for yourseleves.
Have you tried anything from Bourjois?
Do you like lip tints?
