Catrice Check & Tweed LE review, swatches and look

Catrice has to be one of my favorite drugstore makeup brands, their permanent line is filled with staples, but the best are the Limited Editions that are released every couple of months. Moving into fall the latest of these limited editions is Check & Tweed. Inspired by the British classics, the style is "Brit Chic, a perfect blend of understatement, girlish charm and a hint of rebellion".

The collection includes two baked eyeshadow palettes, with three neutral shades and a pop of colour, either a blue or a green, an Eyebrow Fixing Gel, three Velvet Lip Colours in fall colours (a berry, a muted orange and a red), a pinky Highlighting Powder and five Ultimate Nail Lacquers ranging from blue to green, brick and pink colors. The general vibe is one of muted-earthy colors and playing with different effects and textures: from the baked eyeshadows to the metallic nail polish, from the velvety lipsticks to the shimmer details in the highlighter. The packaging is gorgeous and is all matte black with checkered details, either lacquered black on black for the lipsticks and the nail polishes or colors on the eyeshadow palettes. Shall we talk about names? We go from a more classic Brit Chic for the brick colored nail polish to London's Eye for one of the eyeshadow palettes, super cute! I think they did a great job with this collection and it definitely looks amazing for a drugstore brand.

I got the Quattro Baked Eyeshadow palette in 02 Town of Crown and the Velvet Lip Color in 01 Queen's BEAUTea time. Let's start with the palette first since it was the one I was most excited about. It comes with four dome-shaped shadows in a sleek cardboard box that is designed to protect the shadows. As you can see from the swatches like most baked formulas it is not very pigmented when applied dry (bottom swatches), but amazing and metallic when wet (top swatches). The lipstick is a creamy formula, velvety as the name suggests. I picked up this muted orange-brick color since I have nothing of the kind. I love orange lipsticks and have plenty bright ones, but nothing like this that screams autumn to me! It is really really comfortable on the lips and lasts a good 3 hours but doesn't last through a meal.

And here is the look I created. I used a wet brush to pack the blue all over the lid and blended it out with a dry fluffy brush and the brown shadow in my crease. Then used the champagne shade wet in the inner third of the lid and as inner corner highlight.
