Bookacino....in the garden

To celebrate the glorious weather we're currently experiencing, I thought we'd take a journey through some of my favourite Australian gardening books.

I've prepared an outdoor room.....

{Actually, Vicki Archer from French Essence prepared it for you....this is in her backyard...make sure you introduce yourself)

To keep you cool.....what we like to call Razzleberry Delight

And in keeping with the berry theme....a Frangipane Berry Tart

Now to the bookish delights....

Let me introduce you to Velvet Pears:

Susan Southam created her garden at Foxglove Spires on the land of an old dairy paddock in southern NSW. This book captures the essence of living in accordance with the seasons with attention to sustainable living within a local community. {Sigh}
Abundantly, gorgeously, lavishly...delicious in every way.

A drool-worthy introduction to our reading session today.

Perfect Paul....he really is a legend in his own lunchbox.
(That's an expression that probably doesn't translate across the ocean.....but basically it means he's a clever clogs)

If formal gardens are your thing, he's the man for you...

On to Meredith Kirton....she's all about rolling up your sleeves and "getting amongst it"

She's so not a gardening snob, she makes me feel even I could grow something.

Inspiring, relatable, informative, she will awaken a passion that perhaps you never knew you had.

Knowledge is power right?

This book will arm you with information and inspiration about seasonal produce and organic living. Without the rhetoric.*
In the Family Kingsolver's words:

"Part memoir, part journalistic investigation, this book tells the story of how our family was changed by one year of deliberately eating food produced in the place where we live. Barbara wrote the central narrative; Steven's sidebars dig deeper into various aspects of food-production science and industry; Camille's brief essays offer a nineteen-year-old's perspective on the local-food project, plus nutritional information, meal plans and recipes."

Did you think I'd forget about my beloved Stephanie? I can't resist showing you her books again. Just in case you've missed them the first time around.

Start 'em young!

No need to rush.....enjoy the setting for a while longer.....the laundry isn't going anywhere.

*(I know I said this was an Australian-only post, and the Kingsolver's aren't Australian, but I couldn't resist including this amazing book)
